A lupus awareness and educational program from the American College of Rheumatology

Illuminating Lupus Series

The following programs were developed to help increase understanding among Community Healthcare Workers (CHWs)’ of the signs and symptoms of lupus, and ultimately raising lupus awareness and decreasing time to diagnosis in the communities that they serve.

American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN) Project

The ACR’s AI/AN Project titled, Illuminating Lupus, was developed to educate non-rheumatology providers who serve AI/AN communities about recognizing the signs and symptoms of lupus, the risks of lupus for those communities and making appropriate referrals to specialists.
